Name an accountable operational owner
Implementation cannot be delegated entirely to a vendor or the IT team. A business owner must resolve workflow questions, coordinate users and accept the resulting process.
Prepare data before migration
Identify authoritative records, duplicates, missing values and retention needs. Migration should not reproduce years of avoidable data quality problems in a new system.
Define a controlled first release
Choose a realistic pilot team, branch or workflow and state the criteria for expansion. A focused first release produces better learning than a simultaneous organisation-wide change.
Plan for adoption after training
Training is an event; adoption is an operating process. Monitor usage, exceptions, unresolved questions and whether the expected workflow is actually being followed.
